Overview
The Beyonders Book Cover shown above is a conceptual Photoshop rendering of what book four in the Beyonders book trilogy could look like. It was created for use as a final project in college and has no connection to the actual book series. It is correctly sized for print onto a book of similar size, including front, back and spine art.
The Creation Process
This is a composite Photoshop image that utilizes over 60 different images and 112 overall layers of light adjustment and coloring to create just the background image. Other cover elements like the title were digitally imported and edited photo copies to resemble the existing books accurately. The final copy of the cover was flipped from the original art shown above to account for how book covers typically wrap around a book. A slight oil paint effect was applied across the whole image to both match previous cover art and give the image of a soft, fantasy feel. The arm on fire was later rotated up, with the gap being seamlessly covered. The project took a total of 20 hours.
